The children are really enjoying our ‘Awesome Animals’ topic. They are enjoying learning about the different animal groups- Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians, Birds and Fish. They are really good at sorting the animals into the correct group by thinking about their features, for example a shark is a fish because it is cold blooded and has gills or a penguin is a bird because it has beak. Why not ask us a question and be amazed at how much we know.
The children have been sharing in Maths this week. They worked in groups with an Nrich problem- Sharing Bears. The children worked together to find out which numbers could be shared by 2 equally. We had lots of discussions and the children even doubled up in groups to look at larger numbers- up to 100 using a number square. We are going to solving problems using sharing and grouping later on in the week.
The children are enjoying using our Bird Watch Area using binoculars to try and spot birds around Ryton. They are using books to identify which birds they have seen and are trying to nae them. The children are drawing pictures and writing about birds to show their friends. What types of birds have you seen in our local area?
Yellow class are working very hard.
