Year 1 are getting very excited for Easter and are looking forward to the holidays for a well deserved rest as well as eating lots of eggs.
We began using our senses to think of things we hear, see, touch, smell and taste in the Springtime. The children enjoyed talking about things they like to taste such as hot cross buns, chocolate eggs and ice-cream. Yummy! We thought of lovely ideas for different things we hear- birds singing, children playing, trees rustling and the gentle breeze of the wind. Fantastic! The children will use their ideas in a poem later on in the week.
In our Topic work we learnt about the life cycle of a Butterfly and we now know that there are four stages. The children were very interested and could remember these really well. Can they remember at home? They thought butterflies must be really clever as they know that they should only lay their eggs on the type of leaves that the caterpillars will eat. They found it very interesting to learn that the caterpillar also eats the remainder of its shell first to grow big and strong. We went outside to look for some butterflies but unfortunately we did not see any so we drew some with chalk on the yard instead. Some children drew the four stages with pictures- can you see them?
Year 1 are excited to make Easter cards and to watch the Year 2 dance tomorrow! !
