This week we have continued our work on space. The children have had lots of fun and been very imaginative, producing wonderful work for the aliens who love underpants! The children have written to the aliens, made things for them and after the aliens said they liked tidy rooms they have tried hard to keep the classroom tidy. We even had a letter from the aliens saying that they had crashed in our school garden. We had to help them by finding parts that had fallen off the spaceship when it landed. Thankfully we found the parts and the aliens were able to fix their spaceship. The children really enjoyed making rockets that really fly, using paper and a drinking star to make the rockets take off! We also did an experiment to see if a balloon rocket would fly down a string. The children predicted that the balloon would travel more if the balloon was blown up with air more - and they found out that they were right when we put it to the test!
We read and acted out the story ‘Whatever Next!’. The children also used a big box as a tent on the moon to imagine being in space. We wrote lists of what we would take into space with us. Children included lovely items including food, helmets and spacesuits! In maths we have used ten frames to add and subtract two single digit numbers. We have had another fantastic week! Look at the fun we have had!
