First week of last half-term!

First week of last half-term!

We have enjoyed being back together after our half-term holiday.

This week we discovered Captain Patch from our story had left us a letter and treasure map. We worked together to follow the map to find the treasure and enjoyed wearing it too. Then PC Hyde came to visit us and explained that Captain Patch was on the run and they were trying to find him. We showed PC Hyde what Captain Patch looked like and the letter, map and treasure he had left us. We thought of how we could help PC Hyde catch him and decided that a Fishy Friday lunch would be a good trap for a pirate!

Well done to our three kind and hard-working children who won Ice Lolly Friday!

Rainbow run, Forest fun and magnificent measuring!

This week has been extra special as each day we have dressed in a different colour and completed a run around our playground. We are so proud of all of the children for their excellent participation!

We visited our lovely Forest area and did a mini-beast hunt, we have continued investigating measuring and have explored how to use a ruler, we listened to lots of poems and wrote our own animal riddles, we have learned about the different habitats and have discussed how a polar bear has adapted to live in their Arctic habitat.

I hope you all have an amazing half-term holiday and I look forward to hearing about your exciting adventures!

Well done to our three kind and hard-working children who won Hot Chocolate Friday!

Rescuing a boomerang, playing police and caterpillar chrysalises!

Rescuing a boomerang, playing police and caterpillar chrysalises!

This week has been another busy week full of exciting learning!

We watched our five caterpillars go into their chrysalis and then we wrote our third entry in our caterpillar diaries. We are so excited for them to turn into butterflies! We have enjoyed learning in our new role-play area - a police station! We have used fingerprint recognition, wanted posters and incident forms to help us be excellent police officers. We have been reading lots of Eric Carle stories and have designed and created our own animal in the style of Eric Carle’s illustrations. We have investigated comparing and ordering objects of different lengths and heights across our inside and outside areas. We have continued exploring the seven continents and have tried Australian ‘fairy bread’.

Tuesday was a very eventful day as we discovered a boomerang stuck in a tree in our playground. We worked together to try different ways of getting it down using our outdoor equipment but the boomerang was stuck too high in the tree. Until our lovely site manager Gary came to the rescue! He used a long pole to set it free. We were so thankful we each wrote Gary a thank you card.

Well done to our three kind and hard-working children who won Hot Chocolate Friday!

Working hard at halving, reading our caterpillar diaries aloud and captivating continents!

Working hard at halving, reading our caterpillar diaries aloud and captivating continents!

This week we visited our Forest, investigated all the ways we could half shapes and amounts, wrote the second entry in our caterpillar diaries and read them aloud to our friends and enjoyed using Google Earth to identify the continents.
Our caterpillars have been very wriggly this week and two of them have turned green!

This week we have been learning about diaries and have begun writing in our very own caterpillar diaries. The caterpillars are growing bigger everyday! We have also investigated how to count in jumps of 2s, 5s and 10s and have been coding our BeeBots to make lots of busy journeys.

This week in the forest we used all of our senses to explore the change in our seasons. We sang Autumn songs, enjoyed an Autumn scavenger hunt with our friends and, of course, we enjoyed our hot chocolate to warm us up after a play.

We can't wait to go again next time where we will learn all about hibernation!

I have a body, a very busy body!
