  • Bling Your Bike Day

    Fri 23 Nov 2018 S. Spurr

This week, Jayne from Go Smarter School's Engagement came in to talk to the children about everything we have planned this year to promote cycling, scooting and walking to school. It was so exciting, from teaching our younger children to ride their bikes and bike skills, to cycle maintenance and cycling trips further afield.

One event we are really looking forward to is 'Bling Your Bike 'Day, on Friday 7th December where we invite children across the Federation to decorate their bike or scooter in a festive manner. There will be prizes for the best entries and we will take part in a grand parade in the afternoon.

We have encouraged the children to think creatively and use materials they would find around the house such as old cardboard boxes, left-over wrapping paper and tinsel/ decorations for their designs. We have emphasised to them that nothing new need be purchased. In fact, we will be looking for the creative use of 'recycling' in their designs when judging the winners in keeping with the eco-friendly theme of the day.

We hope your child enjoys this event- the first of many to encourage sustainable travel to and from our Federation.

  • Remembrance at Ryton Federation

    Sun 11 Nov 2018 S Spurr
Please take time to look at the Junior children’s fantastic poppy display which they created to remember those who fought in both World Wars and later conflicts. We learned about the 100th anniversary of the ending of the First World War, and every child made a poppy, by painting or in the case of Year 5 and 6, creating a 3-d flower. Well done to all
  • Performance Poetry Competition

    Fri 09 Nov 2018 S Spurr

Our KS2 annual performance poetry competition takes place this half term, with the grand final on Friday 9th November.

Over the next 2 weeks, as part of their homework, we would like your child to prepare a poem to perform to the rest of their class by heart. Any length or subject of poem of their choosing. On Wednesday 7th November, the children will vote for the best performance in their class and then each class winner will compete to find the Junior School Winner, 2018!

As well as this, each class will be practicing a poem to perform together.

Have fun and enjoy picking poems!

  • Parents' Evenings

    Sun 04 Nov 2018
Don't forget to book your parents' evening appointment via Parentmail or by phone. Junior parents' evenings are this Tuesday and Wednesday (6th and 7th November) Junior School parents will have the opportunity to look at their child's books, which will be in the area outside their classroom. This is a change to previous years when books were in the hall, which is being used this year for film and gymnastics clubs. We'll provide signs to make sure you find your way!
