Writing Competition
Why not write a poem for the Gateshead SSP's #WRITEUNITE project? The theme for the poem is Sports Day and should be no longer than 20 lines. There is a great video by the author Liz Million to watch below and a summary sheet so that you can read all about how to enter and also find out details of the prizes you can win. Yes, PRIZES!! We have so many budding writers in our Federation that we are confident you will come up with some fantastic entries. The closing date is July 8th so why not give it a go as part of your writing sessions this week?

Main Writing Tasks

Persuasive advert - Animal Appeal

The main writing focus this week is to create an advert for an endangered tiger. You will learn facts about this species and follow a series of presentations and activities which will help you think about how adverts are put together, the emotive language that is used and the features that should be included in your advert. There are also links to real advertising campaigns to help you get a sense of this particular persuasive style. We are really looking forward to seeing your adverts so don’t forget to share!

Reading lessons and activities

Follow the reading lesson and activities based on ‘The Wolves of Willoughby Chase' below. You will need to practise your reading and listening skills before completing the activities on character impressions and creation of atmosphere and mood setting.
