Our Nursery Children retelling the Gingerbread man
WB 03.05.2021
We only had 4 days in school we have been super busy. Paddington visited and brought us ingredients to make sandwiches and we made boats for him to get back to his Aunt Lucy; we balanced the bears on the boat to see how strong they were. At the forest we explored the new house and made telescopes to look at the sky. This was on top of our child initiated play where our children amaze us each week with their knowledge and understanding!
The last 2 weeks have been very 'egg'citing. We visited our hens and collected their eggs. One day there were 10 eggs!!! We love to visit them. We then made egg and cress sandwiches, we grew the cress ourselves. The bit we loved the most was rolling our eggs down different sized hills. Some hills made the eggs roll fast some were much slower.
We are so proud of how well our children have settled into Nursery!
Not ONE but TWO special visitors during our final festive week of 2020 in Nursery!
An excellent week dancing and singing at our Christmas parties
WB: 30.11.20
This week we have been super helpers to Santa. We have been earning carrots for all the different movement we have been doing: dancing, jumping, hopping, skipping, running, even acting out our stories. Walking through the jungle is on of our FAVORITES! - we can practice lots of different movements.
Some cheeky elves have arrived in Nursery which have been getting up to no good. One morning we came in and they had thrown our Christmas tree on the floor - we made it right by standing it up and decorating it. We are teaching them how to behave.
WB 23.11.20
This week in Nursery we have started learning out Nativity play. We cannot wait to film it for you all to see. We have been very creative looking at different types of trees and replicating these through bark rubbing in the forest or paint within our classroom. This half term our talk for writing text is 'We are going on a bear hunt' which we are adapting and going on other hunts. You guessed it this week it was a tree hunt. We cannot wait until the Summer when we can look at the different leaves to name the different types of trees. You will never believe it but a tiger came to tea. Well he ate the cakes we made leaving just enough of them for us to share with friends and a cup of tea.
All of this on top of being super independent learners within our play!
World Nursery Rhyme Week
We have had a fantastic time this week taking part in World Nursery Rhyme week and learning 5 rhymes, why not ask us to sing them for you.
Monday - The wheels on the bus.
We were luck enough to have a visit from a real bus, we looked for the seatbelts, lights and wipers and all had a turn at tooting the horn.
Tuesday - 5 little speckled frogs
We made frog puppets and a log for them to jump from
Wednesday - Hickory Dickory dock
We made a huge clock and mice to run up it
Thursday - Old Mc Donald had a farm
We played with our farm and sang all day ! We are very good at knowing what sound each animal makes.
Friday - Miss Polly had a Dolly
We made gingerbread Dollies to eat at snack time, they were delicious.

This week Nursery have been thinking about people who help us. We started off the week with a session with the Lollypop lady then started to think about the soliders who help to protect our country. On Wednesday we joined the rest of the Federation remembering them. All week we have been Doctors and Vets helping people and animals. We even helped the birds in the forest area by leaving food for them as it is getting colder and there is less food out and about for them to eat. We also found a new troll house on our way to forest. On Friday we planted seeds and made a wish for all of the children who are not as lucky as we are. Miss Hayden, Mrs O'Neill, Mrs Borrowdale and Miss Nunes are all proud of how kind and caring we are!
WB 19.10.20
This week we have had such a fun packed week. We started off dancing to music and waving our flags to support our charities for the 31 day challenge. We visited the forest on Tuesday reading 'Brown bear brown bear what do you see?' and from this have created some fantastic art work about different things we see. We enjoyed various Halloween activities throughout the week.
Week beginning 5th October 2020
This week Nursery wanted to choose the photos for you all to see this week. On top of recalling the story of 'The three billy goats gruff', forest sessions, soup making after reading Farmers market, singing and dancing we have wowed our grown ups once again in our child initiated play.
Week beginning 28th of September
This week we have been think about how to keep our bodies healthy. We have tasted lots of different fruits and vegetables and started our 31 day challenge of moving lots each day. Look how fast we can run when we made our kites.
Week beginning 21st September 2020
This week we have been exploring the world around us. We have had all weathers. Some we could enjoy snack on the hill in, some we needed our wellies on in and some we could make our own kites in!
Grown-ups you should be so proud of us!
The first two weeks back at Nursery have been amazing. All of the children have adapted so well to routines. One child spotted berries on the bushes so we made jam and had it on toast. We are enjoying being with old and new friends while enjoying our play based learning.
