Sporting Events

Hockey Team

Our hockey teams had a fantastic time at Whickham School this week, playing in the Gateshead Schools’ tournament. They showed superb skill and, most importantly, a great attitude throughout the afternoon. We are delighted to be playing in the Gateshead Finals next week. Congratulations to them all!

Basketball Tournament

This week, some of our Y6 children competed at an exciting basketball tournament, held at Thorp Academy. Playing with great determination against some amazing school teams, they were unbeaten in seven matches. The squad were thrilled to be presented with the winners shield and they will now compete in the Gateshead Schools Finals tomorrow. Good luck to them all!

Cross Country Championships

Our amazing teams of runners competed in the Gateshead Schools' Cross Country Championships last week and all did a fantastic job of representing our school, with everyone completing the course and supporting one another throughout the races. They earned a few medals too: our Y5/6 team came second overall taking silver and we had an individual bronze for 3rd place in the 5/6 boys' race. Well done everyone - you did us proud!

Netball Team

A fantastic afternoon of netball today with Gateshead SSP. Our team had the chance to improve the skills they had been learning in PE lessons and grew in confidence from match to match. I was so proud of their positive attitudes throughout and we were delighted to be awarded with bronze medals too! Well done everyone!

Athletics

Today our Sportshall Athletics team are heading off to county finals, having been crowned Gateshead Champions before Christmas. They are an incredible bunch of children and we wish them the best of luck today in what is always an exciting and fun event. The result isn't important today - how proud you always make us, absolutely is! Good luck Team Ryton!!

Rugby Team

It was medals and smiles all round for our two rugby teams after they played at Blaydon Rugby Club yesterday. Playing with great passion and determination, another tie for first place on final points saw Ryton A finish with silver medals and Ryton B were delighted to finish their competition in bronze place with just one loss all afternoon. What an amazing group of rugby players we have! Huge congratulations to you all!

Football Team

Another great night of football at the Blaydon League tournaments this week. Our team had two matches and did not concede a goal - a spectacular penalty save ensured this! With one win and a draw, the boys are off to a great start! Well done all of you!

Girls Football Team

Our girls played in their first football competition last night and, as you can see by their faces, a great night was had by all. By the end of the night they had the full house: a loss, a win and a draw! So proud of them and excited to watch them develop skills and confidence as the year goes on. Well done all of you!
