Positive, Respectful and Safe

Mrs Johnson - 1NJ

We had a fantastic trip to Bamburgh. We visited the Grace Darling Museum to link in with our history, St Aidan's Church to link with RE and the beach which linked to our Geography work on seas and coasts. It was such a great day.

Our task whilst down at the forest was to create a mini sculpture of a forest creature using clay and natural resources that could be found on the ground. We made some wonderful sculptures of hedgehogs, snails, butterflies, bees, worms and spiders then we chose suitable locations to display our creatures.

We had a fantastic afternoon of sports at Thorp Academy practising such a lot of different skills.

Day for Ukraine

In DT we are looking at

free-standing structures. We have been using different construction materials and have been enjoying building building castle walls and making chairs. Look at our amazing chairs!

The Battle of Hastings 1066

We have started our Castles work today and found out how the Normans invaded England. We had great fun acting out the invasion and finding out why we have Norman castles!

Fun in the Forest!

We love music!

Year 1 have been singing songs in the reggae style this half term. We loved learning Bob Marley’s song, Three Little Birds. Today we were conductors and playing instruments loudly and quietly. We had a lot of fun!

2D Shapes

We were human geoboards today and worked together to make our 2D shapes. We made triangles, squares and rectangles. We even made a pentagon and hexagon.  We then used our small geoboards to make shapes.

We went on a winter walk today in our forest area.

We saw lots of signs of winter. It was very cold!

We had a visit from Santa today!

We had a super Christmas party today!

Our class went down to the Juniors with Mrs Cradock's class for our festive fun run - we ran 6 laps of the big yard! Afterwards we were rewarded with hot chocolate, cream and marshmallows!

We made white chocolate snowballs today! We collected the ‘bossy doing’words as we followed the recipe to make them. We are going to write the instructions tomorrow. They were delicious!

In DT this half term, we are looking at levers and sliders. We made a simple slider so the rocket could blast off into space and the car could drive along the road.  We also practised our cutting, folding and sticking skills.

We all dressed up for Children in Need.
