Reading

Complete the reading lesson and activities based on ‘Dindy and the elephant’ by Elizabeth Laird. This week you will learn how to deduce information about characters from what they say and do.

There are lots of reading activities to complete in Around the World this week. Why not find out more about Russia? (Day 66)

Writing

Did you take part in the #WRITEUNITE poetry writing competition about Sports Day? There is still time if you’d like to. All the details are in Week 5 English resources and the entry deadline is 8th July.

Last week, we started the unit ‘Lockdown.’ This week, the unit continues with a ‘Wishes’ poem which encourages you to think about the simple pleasures you might be missing such as playing with all your friends in the park or hugging your best friend. You’ll also look closely at another poem and explore the devices of alliteration and personification before writing your own ‘before and after’ lockdown poem. Why not perform it and share it in the blog? There are lessons and activities to help you with the unit work below.

Grammar and punctuation
The lessons below will help you understand some of the tasks in your Talk 4 Writing booklet in more depth. Take a look when you come across these terms in the unit. There are some practice activities to go with them.
