Dear Parent /Carer,
As part of our continuing promotion of cycling, we are offering cycling skills and games for your child. Jayne Stanton, our Active Travel Delivery Officer, teaches children bike skills in a fun way.
Children taking part will need a two wheeled bike of their own in safe working order, and a helmet. Other appropriate clothing, such as a short length coat and trainers is desirable. A pair of gloves can also be very useful for avoiding minor scrapes.
Each day, we will also have a scooter skills session for the same class, for those children who do not have a bike and would prefer to bring their scooter. Helmets will be needed for the scooter sessions also.
On Tuesday, we have a session for those children who cannot yet ride their bikes confidently. Last year, this was a great success, with children learning within a few days! This is especially important for those children who are in Year 5 as they will have Bikeability training later in the year but is open to children in any year group who wish to learn. Please note the times for other classes. Year 6 will have sessions later in the year to prepare them for longer distance challenge rides in the summer term. However, any Year 6 children not yet confident on their bikes are very welcome to join the Learn to Ride session on Tuesday.
